Have you ever considered how power influences the work you do?
How we relate to power affects how you relate to people. Have you ever felt star-struck? I have, and the way I interacted with that person differed significantly from how I refer to a colleague or friend.
Power isn’t bad. It’s also more than standing behind a podium wearing a red tie.
It’s that centering, grounding, internal voice that says ‘you got this.’
You don’t have to be in the boardroom to feel powerful. This isn’t about titles. Leadership doesn’t come from an official title.
But you do need to feel good about yourself.
You need to realize you bring value everywhere you go. If the word power has a negative connotation for you, consider reflecting on the origin of those concerns.
Once you realize the inherent value you bring to every interaction, it won’t be a loaded term.
OK, so I have to admit I don’t exactly talk about all of this in the Facebook Live (above) but that doesn’t mean it’s not true.
Cheers, keep being awesome.
