In the world of business, we often talk about topics like authenticity and success, but topics that are often left out are trust and truth in business. How do we navigate the truth in a post-truth world?

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, we are living in a post-truth society — in fact, post-truth was the 2016 word of the year.

Long story short, these days people are putting more trust in their emotions and opinions more than the cold hard facts.

In business, we can’t be doing that. We have to and deserve to know the truth. And, in turn, we deserve to feel confident that those we are working with are telling the truth as well.

Unfortunately, in the world we live in today, everyone wants answers in an instant.

They act on their impulses. They do what makes them feel good instead of doing what IS good. But, if you want to be successful in your business, you can’t live by your impulses. You have to live by truth and trust.

To instill truth in business, you have to know the facts, and the facts are in your data.

Data will help you make decisions about your business that are rooted in truth.

And, when you know your decisions are rooted in truth you will be more likely to follow through with confidence.

It sounds cheesy, but it’s true and simple.

Trust the truth and give your data a chance.
