When I say you’re a tech leader, I can practically hear the chills running down your spine.
Yep, you’ve heard it before or even thought it yourself “Technology is for geeks, nerds, and men.”
That’s not me, you say. I have no interest in it.
I have news for you…YOU. ARE. WRONG.
At best, staying in the dark about the technical side of your business costs you thousands of dollars a year. At worst, it exposes data to the world causing your business to close its doors.
Trusted Marketing Advice
SIGN UPTech is Part of Your Life. Lead it.
Why? Because you are a business owner.
Most of you started your business because you’re great at doing something or you have a fabulous idea.
The fact that you started a business is phenomenal.
Unfortunately, a business can’t run on talent alone.
Decide on Your Processes And Let Technology Ease the Burden
You need procedures and systems in place to ensure that your business runs.
Your customers deserve a standardized experience. You set the gold standard and repeat it again and again.
And you deserve some time off.
As CEO, Head Honcho, Queen Bee, and owner of your business, technology is a must. Standardizing processes with technology allows your business to work without you.
Which leads to less time fretting about whether you remembered to follow-up.
Which leads to more time off.
Here are a few examples of the business technologies you can automate:
- Website
- Applications
- Document storage
- Backups
- Client Relationship Management (CRM)
- Email marketing
- Point of Sale system
- Accounting
- Online communication (e.g., chatbots)
- Social media
- Security
I’m not advocating for automating everything. Nothing beats personal touches.
In the digital age, it’s impossible to move your business forward without technology.
I know what you’re thinking – I’ll hire someone for that. And that’s totally cool, within limits.
Be a Tech Leader. Protect Your Most Important Business Asset: Information
It is understandable that you might be afraid because technology isn’t your thing.
But, the reality is if you don’t take control of your technology, then someone else will. A service provider, employee, or in the worst case – a criminal gets in and wreaks havoc on your systems and data. If you don’t take control of your technology, your business is one step closer to failure.
Every business decision impacts your pocketbook and your bottom line. The only impacts we want on those two things are positive.
In earlier posts, I’ve talked about the importance of creating a plan and a vision. This process includes your staying engaged throughout the process.
You don’t need to know how to make all the connections. You need to know that technology supports your processes. Learn how information flows from customer intake to payment to delivery to follow-up.
Have your provider map it all out. If you’re a DIY-er, make sure you map it out. Then, if something goes wrong you have an idea of the scope of the issues. You also have documentation to help you get it fixed ASAP.
So get out there and unleash your INNER GEEK.
You don’t even need a pocket protector!
You can do it. Why? Because you’re a great business leader!
